CPR, AED, and First Aid Training in Baton Rouge

We are thrilled to share the success of the recent Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED training event held at Baton Rouge Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Endorsed by the church board and sponsored by the newly established Health Ministries Department, this initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the safety and well-being of our congregation and community.

Under the guidance of our dedicated Health Ministries team, led by Director Marjorie Bélizaire, M.D., and supported by assistant leaders Ellie Barthelomew, RN, Jennifer Kepper, FNP-C, Anna Selby, RN, and Regina Williams, RN, the event aimed to equip our members with vital lifesaving skills. With a vision to ensure every participating member feels confident and prepared in times of emergency.

Over 14 enthusiastic participants, including church leaders and members, actively engaged in the training session. Their commitment exemplifies our collective dedication to serving our community with compassion and preparedness.

Participants underwent a comprehensive training program facilitated by a certified instructor from the American Red Cross. The certification, covering both pediatric and adult response and care, empowers individuals to act swiftly and effectively in various emergency situations. We are proud to announce that all participants successfully completed the rigorous training and received their certifications, which are valid for two years.

The training curriculum included a 3-hour online component, followed by an intensive 2 ½-hour hands-on session. During the live training, participants had the opportunity to practice life-saving maneuvers and techniques allowing them to solidified their understanding and instilled confidence in their ability to respond effectively during emergencies.

We offer gratitude to God for guiding us in this endeavor and for blessing our congregation with the skills and knowledge to be instruments of healing and hope in our community. We also extend appreciation to our Health Ministries Team and all of the participants for their support and dedication to the well-being of our church family and community.  In the spirit of Christ like service, we pray as a church body to continue to uphold one another in prayer and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those around us!
